My journey into the world of design didn’t have your typical start. My background is actually in Civil and Environmental Engineering, or at least that’s what I studied in college. However, by the time I graduated it was pretty clear that it was not the right path for me -- Although it is one hell of a backup plan!
Unsure of what I wanted to do with my life after graduation, I moved to Seattle and eventually found a job at Five Ultimate, a company specializing in custom athletic apparel geared towards Ultimate Frisbee players. It was there that I found my love for design where I was able to hone my skills creating designs for hundreds of Ultimate teams and events all over the world! I became the company’s first Graphic Designer, handling all of the design needs, and developing my jack-of-all-trades experience.
I have since continued my professional development by enrolling in the UX Design Academy with DesignLab. I was drawn to the world of UX by the idea of creating with purpose; developing products and designs that meet the needs of both the business and the customers they serve. I view design as the ability to distill complex ideas, emotions, and information into an easily digestible visual format. The world is a big confusing place so if I can take my skills and help make a little more sense out of it I’ll feel like I’ve left a positive mark.
My goal is to help others realize their dreams and aspirations in any way I can, be it fresh startups, large corporations, or your local mom & pop shop. Whether it’s designing an everlasting logo, building a game changing app, illustrating your new board game, developing your brand, or anything else in my bag of tricks, I’m here for it. Hopefully together we can both find success and perhaps have a little fun along the way!
